About Emilio Garza Consulting

How do we change our policies, our culture, our organizations, ourselves?

That’s the question that fuels me and my work as a nonprofit, political, and community organizer. Together, we will define goals, determine observable measures of success, and work methodically towards progress with clear, incremental actions. Oh, and we’ll try and have some fun along the way.

Since 2012, I’ve had the privilege of working in grassroots advocacy, with amazing candidates and powerful campaigns, passing legislation – from both inside and outside of government, and building capacity for community-focused organizations.

I started consulting because as a nonprofit and campaign worker, I’ve had to wear many different hats – often in places that are overworked and understaffed. We’re people who care about the communities we serve, and sometimes it takes a couple of extra steps to ask for help for ourselves.

My Story

Born and raised in Tacoma, Washington, with a degree in Political Economy from the University of Washington - Seattle, I started my first efforts in community organizing on college campuses, first as a student organizer, then after graduating, as a youth organizer with a focus on mobilization and get out the vote (GOTV) efforts.

Over the course of my career, I've been a campaign manager for candidates running for higher office, as well as local ballot measures. In between seasonal campaigns, I've worked in leadership positions for progressive organizations advocating for young voters, children, and the environment, respectively. I've also served on several boards of directors.

Since starting my consulting business in 2021, some of my clients have included small businesses, workers unions, political campaigns, and nonprofits. I work exclusively for progressive causes that focus on building community power.
